Not Much Going On

A reasonably quiet day by the markets standards Wednesday! The Dow fell 26.30, closing at 10,270.55. The SPX lost 6.04 points to end on 1,097.28. We are in the green and looking ok.

Some economic news today with the Challenger Job Cut report showing that 71,482 job cuts were announced in January. This was up from 45,094 in December, but well below the year ago period above 200,000. Nonetheless, this was the first month rise in job cut announcements since July. The ADP Employment data showed that 22,000 private payrolls were lost in January. At the same time, December's decline of 84,000 was revised lower to a decline of 61,000 which suggests we might see some gains in the biggie report Friday, the nonfarm payrolls for the month.

Let the quiet days keep coming!

Until next time.
